Front-End Web Developer

Chubbies is looking for the web developer to take our site to places previously unknown to online shoppers.

Chubbies.com aims to be the most enjoyable place to shop online. Our goal is to create memorable experiences where the brand experience comes through, while creating and constantly improving simple and logical user experience flows through the whole site.

Our team

We seek to continuously improve user experiences on desktop and mobile web at chubbies.com. We systematically break down the customer’s journey through the site into conversion sub steps and aim to make every step: fast, responsive, logical, simple, fun and rewarding.

You’ll be working hand in hand with one of the founders and a very talented eCommerce team. We look for both large and small improvements. Although we rely on data to hold ourselves accountable(AB tests, custom GA events, etc), we are focused on creative solutions that stand out from the crowd. . We seek to build new ways to make it remarkably easy to check out, and want to create a unique and rewarding  experience for each returning customer. We have lots of exciting stuff to do.

Job Summary / Responsibilities

You will be in charge of building all these experiences. Ideally, more of your expertise is on the front-end, but you have knowledge and proficiency with backend technologies to power your front-end experiences. You will have communication, organization and management skills to be able to work with external contract engineers on things that you are not able to build yourself.

Requirements

  • 2+ years developing responsive web applications that work across multiple devices, preferably working on eCommerce sites with significant traffic.
  • Fluent in front-end (primary focus) and back-end web technologies. Ability to fully create and improve all components of a web application.
  • Understanding of the web technology stack (HTTP, WebSockets, cookies, asset loading / caching)
  • Ability to create interfaces using Javascript, HTML5 and CSS3. Experience with JavaScript frameworks and responsive web design. Comfort with "vanilla" JS is a must
  • Experience with JS frameworks, maintainable CSS, NodeJS, unit testing, and build systems a plus.
  • An understanding of factors that contribute to client­-side application performance; how to evaluate an application’s performance; and how to engineer for client-side performance.

Preferences

  • Data-informed product development: analytics, A/B testing, etc.
  • Experience with version control systems
  • Knowledge in Agile development process is highly desired as well as lean development techniques.
